What the world
paid attention to today.

THE PROBLEM

The "world trends" we see
are more skewed than we think.

A world filtered by editors
What you get is the articles a newsroom picked. What people actually looked up and watched stays invisible.
The bias of a single platform
One trending list alone cannot tell a community's private obsession from a genuinely global story.
Only your own country is visible
What drew attention in the US or in Europe today simply never reaches you.
No sense of why it is trending
A keyword on its own tells you nothing about what made it spike today.
CORE IDEA

Four behavioural signals, cross-analysed daily

A topic that surfaces in several signals and several regions at once is a genuinely global story.

🔍
Search
Google Trends — they started looking it up
📖
Reading
Wikipedia — they wanted to understand it
Watching
YouTube — they spent time on it
💬
Posting
Bluesky — they told other people
A world top 20 plus a regional top 10, settled every day across four regions: the US, Japan, Germany and France.

AI ANALYSIS

The AI does not summarise.
It reasons about "why".

For the leading topics, TrendCross digs into why now, why this region and why this mix of signals — with the evidence and a stated confidence level.

Why now — the triggering event, corroborated by web search
Why here — an explanation of the regional pattern
Why this signal — reading gaps such as "searched but not watched"
Every piece of commentary carries an AI-generated flag and a confidence level
REGIONS

The world is the subject. Regions are the breakdown.

No region gets special treatment. The primary view is the aggregated world ranking; regional rankings are the secondary view.

THE FIFTH SIGNAL

What the world is asking AI to do.

Whenever the Anthropic Economic Index (the public dataset on how Claude is used) is updated, TrendCross features an "asking AI" ranking with commentary.

A fifth behavioural signal, after search, reading, watching and posting.

VOICES

How people use it

"I can see the topics people are starting to search for before the media report them. The commentary on the gaps is the interesting part."
Consultant, global firm
"The world ranking makes it obvious at a glance which stories are global and which are local. It widens my field of view."
Media planner
"The AI doesn't assert; it says '70% confidence, and here is the evidence'. That gives me something to think with."
Software engineer
"The AI usage feature is my favourite. What the world asks AI to do isn't something you can read anywhere else."

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from a news app?
A news app deals in what the media reported. TrendCross deals in behavioural data — what people actually looked up, read, watched and talked about. We neither collect nor summarise articles.
How is the ranking decided?
By the TrendCross score, our own editorial metric. It combines how many sources and how many regions a topic appeared in, together with its rank within each source.
Why the US, Japan, Germany and France?
We started with regions where country and language map one to one (US↔English, JP↔Japanese, DE↔German, FR↔French). We plan to expand the coverage over time.
Can I read it offline?
Yes. The last synced world ranking, regional rankings, AI commentary and summaries can all be read offline. Following a link to the original signal requires a connection.
How much does it cost?
US$2.99 per month on the US App Store (300 JPY in Japan; other countries follow Apple's price tiers). For free you can browse the world ranking list; regional rankings, AI commentary, history and every other feature require the in-app subscription. A 30-day free trial is included.
Which languages are supported?
Japanese, English and Spanish. Switching in the settings changes not only the interface but also the ranking, commentary and summary data you receive.
