Contact us
Please use the form below for feedback, feature requests or bug reports. We read everything and reply as soon as we can.
It helps us if you can include:
- Your iPhone model (e.g. iPhone 16, iPhone SE 3rd generation)
- Your iOS version (e.g. iOS 26.1)
- The app version (shown in the settings screen)
- What went wrong, how to reproduce it, and roughly when it happened
For questions about the site in general, you can also write to us via /contact.
Frequently asked questions
Q1. Do I need an account?
No. TrendCross needs no account registration — just open it. You never enter login details or personal information.
Q2. What can I do for free?
Viewing the world ranking (20 topics) and reading the last synced data offline are free permanently, whether or not you subscribe. The world ranking is not truncated or partially masked: it shows exactly what subscribers see.
TrendCross Plus adds:
- Topic detail (AI commentary, the "why now, why here, why this signal" deep dive, the full signal breakdown, and links to the original signals)
- Regional rankings (US / JP / DE / FR)
- Daily summaries (world, regional, day-over-day comparison, weekly wrap-up)
- AI usage trends
- Unread management (unread tab, read status, unread badges)
The line we draw is simple: what the world is talking about today is free for everyone; why it is talking about it — and the deeper analysis — is paid.
Q3. How much is TrendCross Plus, and is there a trial?
US$2.99 per month on the US App Store (300 JPY on the Japanese App Store) with a 30-day free trial. Cancel during the trial and you are not charged. Prices in other countries and regions follow Apple's price tiers, and the exact amount is always shown in your own currency before you confirm the purchase.
Q4. How do I cancel my subscription?
Cancellation is done in the iOS Settings app (it cannot be done inside TrendCross).
- Open the Settings app
- Tap your name (Apple ID) at the top
- Tap Subscriptions
- Select TrendCross and tap Cancel Subscription
After cancelling, paid features remain available until the end of the period you have already paid for. If you are in the free trial, cancel at least 24 hours before it ends to avoid being charged.
Q5. I got a new device. How do I restore my purchase?
As long as you are signed in with the same Apple ID, you can restore it from either place:
- Open the settings sheet in the app and tap Restore Purchases
- Tap Restore Purchases on the paywall
Restoring never charges you again. If it does not work, check that you are using the same Apple ID as at the time of purchase and then contact us through the form on this page.
Q6. When is the data updated?
Every day at around 06:00 UTC (mid-afternoon in Japan, 15:00 JST), the app moves to the previous UTC calendar day's ranking. The app always states which day it is showing, as "the world on YYYY-MM-DD (UTC)".
The exact timing can shift depending on when each source publishes. If a source cannot be fetched on a given day, we still build and deliver the ranking from the sources that did work (graceful degradation).
Q7. Does it work offline?
Yes. The last synced ranking and commentary remain readable offline (opening an original signal — a Wikipedia article or YouTube video — still needs a connection).
Subscription status is also determined offline. If you stay offline, it remains valid for 3 days; after that the app falls back to the free tier until you are online again, at which point paid features return automatically. Free-tier offline reading does not depend on subscription status at all.
Q8. Which devices and OS versions are supported?
iPhone only, running iOS 17 or later.
Q9. Which languages are supported?
Japanese, English and Spanish. You can switch at any time in the app's settings; the rankings and AI commentary are delivered in the language you choose.
Q10. How are the rankings built?
We collect four behavioural signals daily — Google Trends (search), Wikipedia (reading), YouTube (watching) and Bluesky (posting) — across four regions (US / JP / DE / FR). AI then merges differently-worded references to the same topic across sources, and topics are ordered by a score that reflects how many sources and regions they appeared in.
Every source is an officially published, aggregated ranking; we do not scrape HTML. None of it tracks individual people.
Q11. Does the AI summarise articles?
No. The AI analysis is deliberately limited to commentary: why a topic is drawing attention now, which regions and signals it is strongest in, and what the gaps between signals suggest. We never ingest Wikipedia article text, video content or post bodies, and we do not summarise them. AI-generated content is labelled as such.
Q12. Is any personal information collected?
The app itself collects no personally identifying information. Read status, caches and settings are stored only on your device, and the only thing sent to the server is which display language you want.
Subscription status is managed with RevenueCat, which receives only an anonymous ID and purchase transaction information — never your name, email address or payment details. See the privacy policy for the full picture.
Q13. How do I delete my data?
Uninstalling the app from iOS Settings or the App Library removes all read status, caches and settings stored on your device. Because the app requires no account, we hold no information on our servers that identifies you.
Requirements
- iPhone only (not optimised for iPad or Mac)
- iOS 17 or later
- A network connection is required to fetch rankings; downloaded data can be read offline
